Overview

Gliqtkhogivia was founded in time immemorial, reportedly some time durring the late 8th century, by Grelîl Trîbm Zlkê nis Gemenefkhonsbak. The establishment of Gliqtkhogivia was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Grelîl Trîbm Zlkê nis Gemenefkhonsbak struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Gliqtkhogivia as a prison colony.

Gliqtkhogivia was built using the conventions of Ancient durring the late 8th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Gliqtkhogivia is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Gliqtkhogivia is buildings are arranged arround a single narrow canals mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town is the proud owner of a properly designed set of renforced walls made from mighty querried stone blocks. Their construction and material choices would make a dwarf weap with joy, for each and every part of the elaborate fortifications are purly functional and robust well byond reason. Even nonexperts can tell the walls are an excelent defencive structure. Unfortuantly, these exceptionaly well made fortifications are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

A look around Gliqtkhogivia has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine which makes you worry someone might stab you in a dark ally for your boots. It’s not filthy, or dark, but the smiles seem strained, the locals seem to glare daggers in eachothers backs a little too much, and everyone is armed at all times. You may want to keep an eye on your valuables, and make sure you don’t wind up in any position of power. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Gliqtkhogivia long.

Cultural Notes

Gliqtkhogivia's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Gliqtkhogivia hail is always enormous, yet harmlessly plinks off people, creatures, and structures.

The Festrog near Gliqtkhogivia are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Gliqtkhogivia's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves creating small tokens to channel Abjuration energies of tier 3 via chanting.

Points of Interest

Gliqtkhogivia's roads were poorly made when first laid. Rather than repairing them correctly, a series of new roads was laid atop the old, leading to the streets of modern Gliqtkhogivia suffering from potholes, cracking, and even sinkholes. The locals often repair the road by putting down wooden decking.

History

A local has came up with a wonderful new idea (13371 % 6)+1 months ago; it may be a magical innovation, a new industrial process, a new agricultural product, a new use for what was thought to be ancient garbage, or some other very useful, profitable idea. Everyone around them is fighting for the chance to exploit this clever new plan.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century the Kami solved a major long term problem plaguing the town. One of Gliqtkhogivia's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
